'Homecoming' is the theme of this weekend retreat at the beautiful Titoki Healing Centre.
During this contemplative retreat we will reflect on one of the bible's most well known and loved parables - the prodigal son - a story about reconciliation and homecoming.
Based on Henri Nouwen’s book, The Return of the Prodigal Son, the focus of this weekend is to discover the things we carry that prevent us from being fully embraced by the Father's love.
In his book, Henri Nouwen reflects on Rembrandt’s painting of the prodigal son. The book highlights the struggles of his own spiritual journey as a prodigal son. Nouwen identifies the obstacles and his own shortcomings that prevented him from coming home fully to receive the embrace of God’s unconditional love and forgiveness.
You are invited to reflect on your own spiritual journey by joining other fellow pilgrims on a Homecoming retreat that will offer you a space to reflect on the spiritual implications of Rembrandt's painting and Nouwen’s book.
Silent Contemplative meditation of the three main characters in the painting will be an important part of this weekend; namely the younger son, the elder son and the father.

Gaynor's Recovering from Grief Workshop was so beneficial that we've decided to offer it as a weekend retreat! This will allow more time to talk, connect and process. The retreat will be both contemplative and practical, where the Holy Spirit has opportunity to speak to each participant personally and lead them further in their grief journey.
The workshop includes grounded teaching and contemplative activities and is suitable for anyone working through the grieving process.

This workshop is facilitated by Gaynor Lincoln. Three years ago Gaynor lost her brother to suicide. Gaynor was a Volunteer Chaplaincy Assistant at Rotorua Hospital at the time, and has since become a Chaplain. Dealing with her own grief, studying, and discussing the grief journey with others, she learnt much to help herself and the patients she served.
Realising the church was often ill equipped to deal with people suffering traumatic grief, Gaynor wrote the book, Redemptive Grief, upon which the workshop is based. The book will be for sale at the workshop at a 33% discount.
