We invite you to join us for Steve Tollestrup’s workshop at Titoki Christian Healing Centre in rural Whakatane on Saturday, 7th November 2020 from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
The Contemplative Pathways workshop is designed to introduce a variety of contemplative practices. These practices are intended to prepare and support a richer encounter with God’s presence, deeper inquiry and meaningful self-exploration.
Participants will safely have the opportunity to engage in a range of practices including:
- Ignatian reflection
- mindful movement
- centering prayer
- creative arts
- lectio divina
- metta (loving kindness)
The weekend will be a wonderful re-boot for your spirit and provide lasting inspiration for your personal practice.
About the facilitator
Steve Tollestrup is the former Executive Director of TEAR Fund, and elected member for Waitakere Ranges Local Board Auckland Council and a spiritual director. He has worked internationally in the context of poverty, violence and injustice as well as locally on environmental issues, homelessness, racism and unemployment. As a spiritual director he provides companioning for those working for social and environmental justice as well as others wanting a deeper experience of faith. A Christian leader with clear Christian commitment, Steve has a generous ecumenical perspective and a compassionate understanding of inter-faith dialogue. Steve is on the leadership team of Cityside Baptist Church in Auckland and on the executive council of the Association Christian Spiritual Directors.
Accommodation at Titoki
Should you require accommodation, we have the following options available at an additional cost.
Fully Furnished Self-Catering Cottage:
Single bed in shared cottage $30/night
Double bed in shared cottage $50/night
Ferguson House Rooms with Access to Kitchenette and Lounge:
Single bed with shared bathroom $50/night
Double room with ensuite $80/night
What is the cost?
The cost of the retreat is $100, which includes the facilitator’s fee, morning and afternoon teas, and lunch.
Please note that accommodation, should you require it, is extra.
What to bring?
- Notebook and Bible.
- A sitting stool or meditation cushion / mat-set if you have one - otherwise two blankets. (If you are unable to sit on the floor chairs will be available).
- Loose-fitting and comfortable clothing.
- Something of significance to share, for example, a poem, music, art, photo, souvenir or sacred object.
- An open heart!
