The Spirituality of Justice Workshop | September 5, 2020
The Spirituality of Justice
with Steve Tollestrup | September 5, 2020
We invite you to join us for Steve Tollestrup’s workshop at Titoki Christian Healing Centre in rural Whakatane on Saturday, 5th September 2020 from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Throughout history, prophets, contemplatives and mystics have had an active concern for the poor and disadvantaged. This participatory workshop explores the themes of presence and deep spirituality that can be found in activism and justice, as well as takeaway contemplative tools for practice and response. It will facilitate brave spaces to explore the connections between contemplative practice and social justice and be especially valued by those concerned for social and environmental justice, and who are enquiring where spirituality, activism and praxis meet.
About the facilitator
Steve Tollestrup is the former Executive Director of TEAR Fund, and elected member for Waitakere Ranges Local Board Auckland Council and a spiritual director. He has worked internationally in the context of poverty, violence and injustice as well as locally on environmental issues, homelessness, racism and unemployment.
